deidra 1.jpgOur Help Desk Manager Deidra has been named the Magnus Employee of the Quarter for Q3, 2017! This is a well deserved award for Deidra, as she has been on the Magnus team for many years and effectively manages a team of employees through the toughest season of the year: back to school time aka “Peak Season.” In preparation for the new school year, starting as early as June, phone calls and emails to the Magnus Help Desk increase dramatically in volume. Deidra and her team assist parents and college students with navigating the Magnus system to ensure they have a successful experience. They are ready to help and answer every end user question! The Help Desk department maintains a high customer satisfaction rating throughout this busy time, and Deidra is always happy to report the positive feedback her team receives about caller experience to the rest of the Magnus team!

First, tell us how long you've been working at Magnus:
As of November 2017, I have been employed at Magnus Health for five years.

What is your role at Magnus? Were you in a different role previously?
Currently, I am the Texas Meningitis Program Coordinator and the Help Desk Manager. My initial role at Magnus back in 2012 was a seasonal Help Desk Agent. I was only supposed to perform this role for a few months (November through late January) and then I was to return during our summer peak season. This role lasted until March 2013 and in May 2013, I was called back to Magnus again, still as a part of the Help Desk team. After receiving my degree in Psychology, I became the Help Desk Supervisor in September 2014, and by July 2015 I was transitioned into the role of a Help Desk Manager. In May 2016, I was given the opportunity to manage our Texas College accounts.

What is your favorite aspect of your job?
The thing that I like most about my job is the different moments that allow me to see or practice the vast world of Psychology. I never thought that the world of psychology would correlate to software. I am well aware of the type of individual that you have to be when working in the customer service field, but then add the challenge of analytics and data... I find it interesting to see the information we gather every day actually tell a story. I like watching people and seeing how their behaviors change depending on different scenarios at work. I also enjoy observing relationships both with our users and the Magnus staff.

What do you enjoy most about working at Magnus?
I love that I like coming to work everyday. The team of individuals that work on the Help Desk team are a glimmer of light for my week each week. I also love seeing instances when an individual gains their “Magnus Building Blocks” while working in the Help Desk department, and then they are able to successfully transition into other areas of the company.

What three words describe you?
Organized, direct, and honest. I checked with my Help Desk team and they had very similar responses, but also added a few more!

Which day of the work week are you most productive?
Every day that I come to the office is a very productive day for me. Since I have ideas and plans mapped out, I always have something to complete each day. On all accounts, I usually get these tasks completed within a day or so.

Before Magnus, what was the most unusual/interesting job you've ever had?
Before working at Magnus, I held all kinds of jobs. The most interesting was a yard worker for a tar company.... I would never do that again!

Favorite line from a movie?
As a Southern woman, I have a fondness for films based in the south. One of my favorite quotes would have to be from Steel Magnolias: “Shelby was right! My hair does look like a football helmet.” After Sally Field says that line, bring on the kleenex!

What is the best vacation you've ever been on?
Of all the trips that I’ve taken, my birthday this year has been my greatest vacation so far. I took myself to a concert and then on a road trip to Canada with two friends.

If you had to eat only one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I have a few “go-to” meals, but if i could have only one meal for the rest of my life, it would have to be spaghetti.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
So far, my greatest achievement is living my life everyday in truth. I see how this behavior/choice is absorbed by my family, my staff, and my friends.
