Since 2013, Paul has been an invaluable member of the Magnus team, and he is our 2nd Employee of the Quarter recipient this year. Paul usually shows up to work early, ready to start his day! As our Systems Administrator, he is the man behind the scenes of Magnus, making sure all is well with every part of our software. Paul monitors those vital components of the software that we don’t always think about: the network, servers, internet speed, cloud storage... and the list goes on.
Paul makes sure our office and employees have the most up-to-date technology to ensure everyone at Magnus can get their job done! We asked Paul a few questions to help you learn a little bit more about him.
Q: First, tell us how long you've been working at Magnus:
A: I had to look that up! I’ve been with Magnus since October, 2013.
Q: What is your role at Magnus? Were you in a different role previously?
A: I am the Systems Administrator, and a part of the Magnus Health IT team.
Q: What is your favorite aspect of your job?
A: I enjoy learning something new everyday. We pride ourselves with the core values of Magnus. For me, "Make It Better" can be applied to the new items, as well as the old. This requires learning on the hoof, new ways of looking at any technology, and a great deal of testing. Not everything works, but the learning and the experience pay off.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working at Magnus?
A: Believing in what I contribute to, and making a difference for our Team, our customers, and ultimately their customers- the students.
Q: What three words describe you?
A: Ingenious, Learner, Deliberative.
Q: Which day of the work week are you most productive?
A: Since there's something different scheduled every day, I am usually the most productive any morning - right after the Developer stand-up meeting.
Q: Before Magnus, what was the most unusual/interesting job you've ever had?
A: Other than what is on my bio page; Magnus, hands down. Thank you to all of those working at Magnus that make it what it is.
Q: What's one thing you couldn't live without?
A: Coffee (not sure IT and Dev would like me without it).
Q: Do you have any hidden talents?
A: A healthy dose of paranoia can be a part of the IT and Security landscape... Sadly, for Magnus and our blog readers, this also means that I'm not answering specific questions on my favorite food, hobbies, vacations, and movies, that have a chance of compromising our security due to the possible role they play in good password creation.
